Detroit, Michigan – The Chevrolet Cruze will be available with a diesel engine in North America starting in calendar year 2013, GM has confirmed.

Diesel versions of the Cruze are currently being sold in Europe and the company will release details of the North American version at a later date.
GM said that it sold 24,896 Cruze models in the U.S. in June, the fifth consecutive month that sales have exceeded 20,000. The model’s success has increased Chevrolet’s total share of the U.S. compact car segment from 9.5 per cent a year ago to 11.9 per cent for the first five months of June 2011.
