2012 Honda Civic prices revealed

The 2012 Honda Civic will cost from £16,495 when it goes on sale in January.

2012-Honda-Civic Buyers will have the choice of a 1.4- or 1.8-litre petrol engine, or a 2.2-litre diesel. The new engines are more powerful and cleaner than the units they replace.

To help boost fuel economy, all versions have an Econ switch, which adjusts the car's management system to maximise efficiency.

A smaller-capacity diesel engine – believed to be a 1.6 – will join the range in late 2012. It's expected to emit less than 100g/km of CO2.

There are four trims – SE, ES, EX and EX GT. The 1.8 ES, which costs £18,995, is expected to be the most popular version.

The entry-level Civic gets 16-inch alloys, air-con and USB connectivity.
