If you’re already looking to dress up the 2012 BMW 3 Series you don’t yet own, look no further than next month’s Geneva Motor Show, where BMW will roll out a number of new accessory packages and parts – many crafted by its M GmBH division – designed to tart up the all-new sport sedan.
The new 2012 BMW 3 Series goes on sale this month, which means that it’s time for the automaker to release all sorts of things owners can add to their new cars. The Geneva Motor Show in March marks the release of the M Performance line of parts for the new 3 Series, which will be available for purchase in the States starting this summer.
The M Performance parts are primarily cosmetic accessories, including add-ons like black grille inserts, a set of asymmetrical racing stripes, and a carbon fiber aerodynamic kit that includes a new front splitter and side skirts. Those looking for a little sportier flair can also opt for a new exhaust system, along with revised tuning for the F30 3 Series’ electric power steering assist.
What remains to be seen is if this generation of 3 Series will eventually get the prized Performance Power Kit from the old car. You might remember that the previous 335i had an available set of upgrades that increased the power rating from 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque to 320 horsepower and 332 pound-feet, which decreased the car’s 0-60 time by 0.2 seconds.
With this new car, the 3 Series has not one but two turbocharged engines: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder for the 328i, and a 3.0-liter inline-six for the 335i. Here’s hoping that the M Performance division is hard at work on a power pack for both options.
In the meantime, the M Performance Accessories–along with the Original BMW Accessories–will be available through BMW dealers across the country within a couple of months.
