718-HP Wide-Body Hamann-Tuned BMW M5 Revealed

HAMANN-BMW-M5 The new BMW M5 customized by German-tuner Hamann Motorsport is not for those who want a subtle look. When the stock M5′s performance and styling aren’t good enough, Hamann will offer improved exterior, suspension, and interior pieces as well as engine upgrades.

Hamann has developed a new DTM-style wide-body kit to enhance the sports sedan’s aerodynamics — and, some might argue, its curb appeal. Widened fenders make room for the massive 21×9.5-inch front and 21×12-inch rear wheels. A new front apron (with integrated LED running lights), side skirts, and rear apron redirect airflow around the car. The roof- and truck-mounted spoilers combine for increased down force, Hamann claims. Carbon-fiber exterior trim is also available.

Continental Sport Contact 5P tires sized 265/30 ZR 21 front and 325/25 ZR 21 rear wrap the custom wheels. Sport springs lower the M5 1.2 inches.

Inside, Hamann replaces the stock leather with higher-quality hides. Aluminum pedals are part of the Hamann M5 package, while buyers can specify piano black, leather, or Alcantara trim.

Hamann is developing exhaust and engine management upgrades for the BMW M5’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 that’s already good for 560 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. The tuner expects power increases of 158 hp and 162 lb-ft torque for a total of 718 hp and 662 lb-ft of torque to abuse the wider tires.
