Porsche 960 Supercar Due in Late 2015

Porsche-960-Supercar The spiritual successor to the Porsche 959 (pictured above) appears destined to make its production debut in late 2015.

Sporting a four-door coupe setup, the German automaker wanted to delay the release of the vehicle until the 2020s in hopes of building a bespoke chassis for its Ferrari fighter. Instead, the Volkswagen Group has instructed Porsche to utilize its MSB-M platform which will underpin all mid-engine, rear- and all-wheel drive vehicles and will be used for the next-generation Panamera.

Currently it’s believed that the 960 will be powered by a twin-turbo, flat-six powerplant though Porsche could still be considering the use of a flat-eight setup in its next supercar. Expected power output in order to keep up with the Italian exotics will be around 600 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. The project is internally known as Fefi, short for Ferrari fighter and will easily be priced above the Panamera.
