Spied! Camouflaged Porsche 911 991 Carrera Cabriolet Isn’t Fooling Anybody

With the hardtop comes the soft top. We’ve already had a chance to see the new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S in person, but we haven’t seen so much as a glimpse of the convertible version of the Carrera. That is, until now. Our European auto paparazzo snagged these shots of what we believe are the 991 Carrera Cabriolet testing in Germany.

This 911 Cabriolet is immediately recognizable as a Carrera. The telltale air intakes of the 911 Turbo Cabriolet we spied a while back are missing on this 991, indicating this is a naturally-aspirated Carrera. This prototype looks very close to production-ready and we imagine it won’t be long before it makes its official debut.

Other than the missing air intakes, there’s not much more to this 911 Carrera Cabriolet prototype. Porsche has already shown us the new 911, so it seems rather pointless for them to have bothered camouflaging it up with goofy-looking decals over the headlights and taillights. It seems as if the decals call more attention to the car than if it had flown under-the-radar without them.
