2012 Scion iQ Base Price is $15,995

The 2012 Scion iQ is finally here…well almost. The quirky little hatchback is currently being unveiled to American auto journalists in California. Our man on the ground Benson Kong and other media outlets are now reporting that the iQ’s base price will be $15,995 when it hits showrooms this fall.

The Scion iQ was initially supposed to make its American debut this summer, but first supply issues and then the March 11 earthquake pushed the iQ’s launch back further. But Toyota was able to get its factories up and running sooner than expected and it’s now official — the iQ will reach the U.S. starting this fall. Scion spokespeople say the iQ launch will be rolled out in four parts. The western U.S. will get the iQ first this October. The South is up next in January and then the East and Midwest states will receive the iQ shortly afterward.

Like all Scions, the iQ will be nicely equipped from the get go. For their $15,995, iQ buyers get a base model equipped with Pandora integration. There will be one higher trim level that will include a GPS system. And as is the case with the rest of its lineup, iQ buyers will also be able to personalize their new micro-cars with both go-fast and look-fast bits, including carbon fiber trim, lowering springs, and of course, subwoofers. The kids love subwoofers.
