GM launches new pickup in China

Shanghai, China – GM has launched the Kuncheng pickup truck in China at the Changchun International Automobile Fair. The new compact model is built by FAW-GM, the company’s joint venture in China, and is targeted at small and medium businesses, private companies, and individuals in China’s second- and third-tier cities.

“We see strong potential in China’s pickup market,” said Kevin Wale, president and managing director of the GM China Group. “The Kuncheng has been developed to global standards for performance and quality to meet the needs as well as the expectations of domestic buyers.”

Four variants and a choice of a diesel or gasoline engine will be available when the truck goes on sale this fall.

The Kuncheng is the first vehicle produced in FAW-GM’s new manufacturing facility in Changchun, and will be sold through the company’s new sales system which integrates sales and service.
