More Infiniti JX Teaser Photos Surface

Infiniti_JX_Teaser The initial sketch of Infiniti’s upcoming three-row, seven-passenger Infiniti JX crossover was released back in April. In July, Infiniti released the first teaser photo – showing the driver’s side headlight and ensuing profile – during the launch of its “Power of 7” social media campaign, cleverly on the seventh day of the seventh month.

Infiniti is using the campaign to promote the JX’s seven-passenger seating by releasing seven images of the JX, one every Thursday, for the next seven weeks through the company’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. The teaser photos are being released to keep the public interested until the concept’s debut at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 18.

Few details have been released about the JX, with Infiniti only saying that it will offer a “stunning” interior and the company’s latest entertainment and safety electronics for its seven passengers. It will be larger than the current two-row EX and FX crossovers, but likely smaller (and less thirsty) than the three-row body-on-frame QX SUV.

Infiniti Vice President Ben Poore insists the 2013 JX will fill a very important niche for suburbanites saying, “Families don’t have many luxury vehicle options today. The new Infiniti JX will be the seven-passenger antidote to the ho-hum luxury crossovers that are out there right now.”

The JX crossover will be the first Infiniti built in Nissan’s Smyrna, Tennessee, plant and will be built alongside the Nissan Leaf, beginning at the end of 2012, and the next-generation Rogue by 2013. The Nissan Frontier pickup and Xterra SUV will be bumped from Smyrna to the Canton, Mississippi, facility to make room for production of the two crossovers and EV.

Expect the debut of the production version of the 2013 Infiniti JX crossover at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
