The annual TED Global conference kicked off yesterday in Edinburgh, bringing together artists, scientists, economists, philosophers and activists to explore ‘how live can be better lived’.
This year’s global conference also welcomes representatives of the Renault-Nissan Alliance who will be on hand to give attendees a rare chance to test drive its latest EV models.
As the official automotive partner of this year’s event, the Alliance will be displaying models including the Renault Twizy, Nissan Leaf and Renault Fluence. Both the Leaf and the Fluence will be available to test drive by delegates.
Over the course of four days, 50-plus speakers and performers from all over the world will take to the stage in Edinburgh, to analyse ‘who we are, what we do, and how we relate to each other and to other living organisms’. The conference focuses on the resources, technologies and skills that make life possible and keep it going and the many things that make it interesting, enjoyable and worthwhile.
“TEDGlobal is an inspirational five days of thought-provoking presentations designed to provide genuine hope for the future. Similarly, the electric vehicles from the Alliance are the auto industry’s hope for a future where we are no longer dependent on a single, non-renewable form of energy. It’s an excellent partnership,” said Hideaki Watanabe, Corporate Vice President of the Zero Emission Business Unit at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and Renault-Nissan Alliance Managing Director, Zero Emission Business.
There will also be music, comedy, tech demos, short talks, video interludes and other surprises across the event which runs until Friday 15, 2011.
