The U.S.-spec 2013 Nissan GT-R is rumored to receive several updates for the 2013 model year, according to the North American GT-R Owner’s Club. A source on the forum claims Nissan held a European Press Event at the Nurburging this past weekend to outline modifications that may be in our future.

According to the NAGTROC, the 2013 GT-R’s exterior will be untouched, but tweaks to the underbody to increase aerodynamics and aid cooling are expected. Another bump in horsepower is also rumored; the revised twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6s could potentially produce close to 570 horsepower. The gains may come from higher boost levels combined with intake and exhaust updates. CO2 emissions are also expected to be reduced.
Suspension and transmission programming tweaks are also anticipated. NAGTROC also claims two special edition models — a Premium Black and Egoist edition — will be available in several markets worldwide. That said, a so-called track edition — perhaps a lithe, hardcore twist on the GT-R formula — will be only offered in right-hand-drive, and subsequently sold only in markets outside of North America.
Though these cars will be sold as 2013 models in the U.S., NAGTROC suggests they’ll arrive in our market late in 2012. Timing for a successor to the R35 chassis, however, is less certain: at this point, we hear the platform will carry on for at least two more years.
