Cadillac is ramping up for the unveiling of its new 2013 ATS compact sedan that will do battle with the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, and Mercedes-Benz C-Classes of the world. Part of getting the ATS up to snuff with the competition is extensive testing at Germany’s famed Nurburgring.
Cadillac is rolling out a series of videos called “ATS: The Journey” to preview the ATS and tease the performance, luxury, and competitive edge of the all-new baby Cadillac. The first chapter, called “The Green Hell,” and embedded below, shows off the ATS hitting the Nurburgring to undergo performance testing. The engineering team worked seven days a week for two weeks straight to tweak the ATS.
Lucky for us, the first chapter grants us a number of clear shots of the ATS, both inside and out. Although it’s clad in camouflage, we can see the crisp lines from Cadillac’s Art & Science design language, a large grille similar to that on the CTS, and an overall familial resemblance to the upcoming XTS large sedan. In the cabin, Cadillac grants us a nice view of the touch-sensitive center stack for the new CUE infotainment center.
Expect to see the ATS make its official debut this January at the Detroit auto show. Until then, check out the video below, and stay tuned for more chapters from “The Journey.”
