Bobby Brown made up his absence from Whitney Houston's funeral by paying tribute to his ex-wife in a concert held just hours after her funeral. He thanked his fans and family for their outpouring supports, saying, "Life is life ... you have to move on sometimes."
"I want to give blessings to my ex-wife, Whitney Houston, I love you. I want to give blessings to my kids, my fiancee (Alicia Etheridge), my brothers, and each of you," he continued. "And if you didn't already know, I go by the name of bad a** Bobby Brown."
Brown took the stage with his New Edition mates as part of the tour to celebrate their 30th anniversary. At one point during the gig, he also said, "I lost three great people in my life in the last year, but nothing makes me happier than to be here with you."
Brown left Whitney's funeral before the service began after he was "asked to move on three separate occasions" by security. He's also banned from seeing her daughter Bobbi Kristina. To avoid causing a scene, he chose to depart early. "This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how," he said.
