Jaguar is holding true to its promise that the F-Type will be offered with a range of engines as we’ve just confirmed a punchier V-8 will be available alongside the 3.0-liter V-6 engine announced last week.
Jaguar spokeswoman Nicole Redding told us that a 5.0-liter V-8 will find its way under the F-Type’s hood, although further specifics weren’t revealed. Based on the power ratings of existing Jaguar V-8 models, an F-Type V-8 could put out anywhere from about 400 hp to more than 500 hp with a supercharged V-8. For now, it appears we’ll have to wait until the cat is let out of the bag entirely.
F-Type details started to emerge during the Beijing Motor Show last week, when Jaguar revealed the roadster will debut with a supercharged 380-hp 3.0-liter V-6 paired to an eight-speed automatic. Jaguar says the V-6′s all-aluminum architecture stems from the company’s V-8 engine.
Though Jaguar has said that the F-Type is as important to the brand as the 911 is to Porsche, we’d be pleasantly surprised if the car debuted with a manual transmission.
