2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Prototype Captured On Video

C7-Corvette-Spied This isn’t the first time we’ve seen images and video of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 in prototype form, nor will it be the last. In fact, as Chevy’s next sports car grows closer to production reality, sighting of disguised C7 test cars should only become more common.

Case in point? A CorvetteBlogger reader bumped into a Corvette testing group in Holly, Michigan, roughly 19 miles north of General Motors’ proving grounds in Milford, Michigan. The video and photos show little we haven’t previously seen, but no matter – it should still be enough to pique the interest of Vette fans nonetheless.

It’s impossible to hear much over the video’s wind noise, but the poster claims the C7 prototypes emitted a familiar small-block burble from the tailpipe. No surprise, as we’ve previously reported that, contrary to early rumors, the next Vette won’t offer a V-6 right off the bat. Expect Chevy’s next-generation small-block to displace close to 5.5 liters and produce close to 440 hp in base form. That engine will likely boast both cylinder deactivation and direct fuel injection.

We expect to see much more of the C7 in the months to come, as it’s widely believed the new Corvette will make its public debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit come January. If so, expect the car to begin rolling off the assembly line in Bowling Green, Kentucky, by mid-2013.
