2013 Nissan Altima is the most recent midsize sedan to gain a security clearance NHTSA five-star in New Car Assessment Program test. The previous generation Altima has earned four stars from NHTSA NCAP test, which has a maximum rating of five stars.
Inside, the 2013 Altima has driver and front-passenger seat-mounted side-impact air bags, roof-mounted side-impact curtain air bags, as well as blind spot monitoring and lane departure warning systems.
2013 Nissan Altima is not the only midsize sedan to win five stars in NCAP testing, the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, 2013 Hyundai Sonata, 2013 Kia Optima, 2013 Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat and 2013 have all received five stars from NHTSA NCAP test. Chrysler 2013 200 and 2013 Dodge Avenger each won four star NCAP test. The all-new 2013 Ford Fusion and 2013 Honda Accord has not yet been rated by the NHTSA. The 2012 Ford Fusion was awarded four stars, while the 2012 Honda Accord had received five stars.
2013 Nissan Altima sedan has not yet been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, who said in August that the new Ford Fusion, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are next on the list of vehicle crash test.
