Revised Audi A4 scooped

Audi will follow up its changes to the A5 family with similar revisions to the A4 saloon and estate.

Chief among the styling changes will be a bolder look for the front headlights. These are expected to feature Audi’s now distinctive ‘wave’ LED design seen on the revised A5, as well as Audis including the new A1, A6 and A8 models.

Other styling changes likely to feature include a flatter, wider front-end with a new bumper and larger air intakes. There will also be tweaks to the front grille, and a new bumper and light design for the rear.

Subtle interior changes are tipped to include a new finish for the instrument panel and centre console and new steering wheel designs and interior trim and upholstery options.

Engines are also expected to mirror those appearing in the revised A5. So expect to see a 168bhp 1.8 TFSI model as the entry-level petrol unit and a 175bhp 2.0 TDI kicking off the diesel range.

Other engines likely to feature are a 211bhp 2.0 TFSI, a 268bhp supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 and three 3.0 TDI V6 units. S4 models are set to be powered by a 328bhp version of the 3.0 TFSI.

All engines in the revised A4 range will feature direct injection, stop-start, forced induction and an energy recuperation system as standard.

The revised Audi A4 range is tipped to be revealed at the Frankfurt motor show in September ahead of sales starting by the end of 2011.
