2011 SEMA: Gran Turismo Worthy Car?

2011 SEMA: Gran Turismo Worthy Car? With the bulk of major auto shows complete, and the fall season just beginning, it’s now time for some aftermarket fun at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas this November 1 through 4. It also means it’s time for Sony PlayStation, Polyphony Digital, and its world famous Gran Turismo franchise to hold their highly regarded Gran Turismo Awards program that puts real life cars into one of the most realistic racing simulators ever created.

If you’re unfamiliar with the GT Awards, the program goes something like this: Judges from five categories – European Import, Hot Rod, Truck/SUV, Asian Import, and Domestic Auto — chose their top vehicles from the thousands displayed in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s halls. Those cars then get heavily scrutinized and admired by Gran Turismo creator, car buff, and real-life racer, Kazunori Yamauchi. The sole car that embodies what it means to be a Gran Turismo car will be digitized and included in a future version of the legendary game.

The catch: Before the judges can pick their choice rides, they need a pool of show cars sift through. So if your ride happens to be going to next month’s SEMA, and you want a shot at being included in the Gran Turismo game, head over to playstation.com/psn/events/granturismoawards.html to submit your information.

Oh, and if you’re in town on November 3, be sure to stop by Marquee at The Cosmopolitan Hotel for some late night fun, courtesy of Sony PlayStation.
