Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series
With the SL65 AMG Black Series long gone, the SLS should prove to be a more than adequate replacement. This particular tester, snapped while testing out on Germany’s Nurburgring race track, is sporting a slick, matte black paint job and very little camouflage. Like previous Black Series prototypes caught out in public, this SLS is wearing some crude, plastic fender pieces, that hint at a widened tire track, while provide a small glimpse of what the finished body kit should look like.
There’s little word on what AMG plans to do under the hood, which, in its current form, house a 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V-8 screamer of an engine that puts out 563 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. We expect AMG to boost those numbers up a tad.
The standard SLS rocketed from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds during our most recent round of testing so we expect a slightly faster number when, or if we get our hands on one. Finishing off the Black Series formula should be upgraded suspension and brake bits and a track-focused interior with lots of carbon fiber. Since the previous SL65 Black Series was only offered with a fixed roof, it’s likely that the SLS AMG Black Series will only be produced in gullwing form. Stay tuned for more info as it comes.
