Marvel Entertainment and Acura have teamed up in the upcoming movie “The Avengers,” which had its world debut last week and included a “surprise stunt.”
If the stunt was to avoid running people over with the “Acura-created sports car” then we’d say the “Iron Man” star succeeded. The surprise convertible is a replica of what will be used in the movie—design cues mimic the NSX concept currently making its way through the auto show circuit. The film will also include other S.H.I.E.L.D themed Acuras including the MDX, TL, ZDX, and the new 2013 RDX.
The promotional campaign for the movie includes commercial spots and a dedicated website, SHIELDops.com, which features interactive games starring Acura vehicles. Players who register and attain high rankings are eligible to win swag such as movie passes, S.H.I.E.L.D gear, a replica of the Acura convertible from the movie, and a virtual keyboard. The prize to aim for, however, is a Tony Stark-themed trip to New York City.
“The Avengers” opens in theaters on May 4, 2012 and the contest ends June 1. Find more Avengers action at acura.com/avengers, and check out the red carpet “stunt” in the video below.
