The Ford Fusion will be taking a gulp from the fountain of youth for 2013, and details are starting to leak giving us a good idea of the direction Ford will be taking with its mid-size sedan.
On top of a tree-hugging hybrid version sipping around 4.8L/100 km, the automaker will be serving up not one, but two EcoBoost engines, the same ones motivating the Mondeo in Europe, i.e. 1.6- and 2.0-litre 4-pots. The first puts down 157 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque and will be available in the SE, while the other punches out 200 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque and will be exclusive to the SEL.
A start/stop system and active grille shutters should help keep fuel consumption down to a minimum, and MyFord Touch may be making its Fusion debut.
We can expect to see the sedan make a first appearance at the next Detroit Auto Show, borrowing design cues from the Evos, which is scheduled for unveiling at next week’s Frankfurt show.
