Chevrolet has released new photo previewing the upcoming 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. GM just published this photo of the new fullsize truck undergoing final validation testing at its Milford, Michigan proving grounds.
The truck in the picture is wearing much less camouflage than the previous prototypes, a few new details are apparent from this shot. As expected, the outside should not be a radical departure from the current Silverado, at least from the side view. Where Chevrolet made great changes, however, is in inside, we discovered in the spy shots caught in July. The center console has been completely reworked with new equipment and rocker switches, while driving a sports design more similar to that found in the next Chevy Impala.
Mechanically, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado light will probably get next-gen GM V-8 engine with a number of new features, including an aluminum block, direct injection, and maybe the cylinder deactivation. Meanwhile, the models should be revised HD 6.0 and 6.2-liter V-8 gas, with the 6.6-liter Duramax V-8 turbodiesel engine also receive tweaks. Rumors also claim GM is working on a V-6 turbo mill to compete with Ford's EcoBoost six-cylinder engine that has been a popular choice among F-150 customers.
In addition to the tests, GM started to retool and improve most of the plants that produce new trucks. The Silao, Mexico facility receives at least $ 200 million for improvements and a number of plants in the United States have also received investments.
