The pimping continues for the Mercedes-Benz Viano van. Earlier this year, the automaker showed off the Viano Vision Pearl, which, much like a pearl, is luxurious, yet understated. Now, Benz showing off the Viano Vision Diamond, with exterior and interior opulence fit for a Hollywood diva.
Outside, the large van features a two-tone paint job finished in black and diamond white. Separating the two colors is a pinstripe hand-painted in shimmering gold. The two-tone theme continues with the five-spoke rims, while the brakes get some bling with “Mercedes-Benz” hand-painted in gold. More gold is used for the hand-painted diamond on the B-pillar, which hints at what to expect inside.
Two lucky rear passengers are treated to an all-white interior finished in nappa leather, plush carpeting, and ambient lighting. The rear seats were built to coddle occupants with heating, cooling, massage, and power reclining functions. Mercedes-Benz says the eight diamonds embedded in the interior trim reference the lucky Chinese number eight.
Celebratory occasions can be marked with Champagne from the onboard cooler and plenty of flutes in which to pour the Veuve Clicquot. The flutes, by the way, pop up between the seats at the push of a button. The list of entertainment options include on-board Internet, a 40-inch screen, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system, all of which can be operated via an iPad2 or Iphone4. Mercedes-Benz’s Magic Sky Control system controls the darkness of all rear windows as well as the glass partition between the passenger and chauffeur area.
Speaking of which, driver’s seat isn’t such a bad place to be, either. The Viano Vision Diamond’s driver is surrounded by an all-black interior finished with nappa leather seating surfaces.
Since this is technically a concept, powertrain options haven’t been announced. Should it make it to production, it’ll likely get the same engine choices as the Viano Pearl Limited Edition, which arrives in showrooms this summer. The Viano Pearl is offered with a 3.5-liter V-6 gas engine rated at 258 hp, while fans of oil-burning engines can opt for the 3.0-liter common-rail diesel V-6 with an output of 224 hp.
