Honda’s new electric vehicle – the Honda Fit EV (pictured) – is heading to the USA: and it will be available for lease from July 20, 2012.
This remarkable electric car has received the highest fuel efficiency rating in history from the Environmental Protection Agency at an incredible 118mpge – and now it will be available in key markets in Oregon and California from $389 a month. It is expected that the vehicle will expand to six East Coast markets during early 2013 and will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $36,625.
Of course the Fit EV is based on the original Honda Fit but comes with a 20kWh lithium-ion battery and a compact 92kW synchronous electric motor able to generate 256Nm of torque. Its estimated driving range is 82miles.
Range can be improved if the driver chooses the ECON mode – while SPORT mode allows drivers to boost responsiveness and make the Honda Fit EV all the more fun to drive.
In addition, the Fit EV includes electric power steering as standard and an interactive remote control with a range of up to 100ft can be used to operate its climate control system when it is connected to a power supply. The vehicle also boasts several innovations, such as: the use of Honda bio-fabric in the seat material; and aerodynamic features such as a revised and efficient front-end.
The Honda Fit EV will be covered by a three-year limited vehicle warranty; a five-year powertrain limited warranty; and a five-year corrosion warranty.
