As the Volkswagen CC’s entry-level model creeps closer to the $30,000 mark, the German automaker is making sure the stylish sedan has refined looks to match the premium price. Enter the 2013 Volkswagen CC, the refreshed version of the surprisingly successful car that transported Mercedes-Benz’s CLS four-door coupe idea to a more affordable segment. Has the refreshed Volkswagen CC lost some of the style that made it so popular when it first debuted or is this a step in the right direction? Let’s have a look.
Yes, the CC adopts the same styling cues we’ve seen on the Jetta and Passat sedans, but the CC manages to not get lost among Volkswagen’s restyled sedans. That’s partly thanks to the rounded edges of the headlights as they wrap up the sheet metal above the front wheels. LED daytime running lights and HID headlights help further distinguish the 2013 CC from the 2012 Passat and 2012 Jetta. A shinier grille that’s directly connected to the headlights and a revised lower front fascia also update the CC compared to the 2009 and 2010 models shown in the gallery below.
From behind, the CC clearly wears a set of newly designed taillights featuring Volkswagen’s L-shaped accents. Inside, it doesn’t appear that much has changed besides new silver trim around the air vents. Really, though, did Volkswagen have much work to do on the interior? Tell us what you think about the 2013 Volkswagen CC’s refreshed body in the comments section below.
Last week, the 2013 Audi A4 received mixed reviews. Given the car’s aggressive headlights and grille, that’s not surprising.
“Nice overall,” wrote chuck. “Except, I hate the big gaping maw in front. I don’t like it on the Audis, the Mitsubishi, or the smiley face mazdas, even the Ford Focus and Fiesta.”
FstrthnU disagreed: “Rear and sides are still boring, but I”m digging that new front end. …the new one looks fresh and sharp!”
